本記事はappropriateを使った感謝表現【後半】についてについては解説していきます。

今日のポイント

基本形：appreciate + 「物・事（名詞）」
動名詞形：appreciate + (人) + ～ing
仮定法：I would appreciate it if …
受動態：It/Your … would be appreciated

「I would appreciate it if …」は、

「〜していただければ幸いです」

「〜していただけるとありがたいです」

という意味です。

itは「形式目的語(仮の目的語)」です。

私が感謝していることは、「if …」(もし…だったら)で文章の塊です。

長い表現なため、appreciateの仮の目的語としてitが使われているのですね。
